Austalian Oak

What is Classic Grade?

Timber doesn’t need to be perfectly uniform to be considered beautiful.

Increasingly, consumers and designers are drawn to timber that tells a story, one that only nature can create. The result is a finish that feels both unique and rich in character.

Classic Grade Australian Oak and IronAsh celebrate this authentic appeal. Natural characteristics such as knots, veins, gum pockets, grain variation, surface checks, and pinholes offer individuality and texture that select and standard grades can’t replicate.

Perfect for feature joinery, wall panelling, external screening and cladding, staircases and more, Classic Grade offers a more affordable option for builders, manufacturers and discerning clients alike.

Why Classic Grade?

In response to dwindling resource availability, coupled with a push for longer-lived applications from small diameter and character-filled logs, ASH has been building a market for fibre that would have otherwise been sent offshore, chipped for paper or downgraded into pallets.

Unlike select or standard grade, which prioritise uniformity, Classic Grade embraces the inherent characteristics of Australian Oak and is a smart way to make the most of every log processed.

Put simply, ASH takes feature-rich timber and creates beautiful, higher-value products. It reduces waste, supports local manufacturing and extends the lifecycle of valuable fibre.
